Chair, Surveillance Working Group

Iain G Mitchell QC is a member of both the Scottish and English Bars, with a wide and varied civil practice, with particular emphasis on Commercial litigation and IT/IP Law. 

He is Chair of CCBE’s Surveillance Working Group, and member of the CCBE IT Committee and the Bar Council IT Panel, Chairman of the Scottish Society for Computers and Law, Chairman of the Scottish Lawyers European Group, and an Honorary Lecturer in IT Law at Münster University in Germany.

Additionally, he is a leading member of QA legal, an international grouping of barristers, solicitors, financial experts and others who are pre-eminent in this field, and he is Joint Editor of the International Free and Open Source Law Review, and has contributed to (amongst others) Electronic Evidence (Butterworths) and Free and Open Source Software: Policy, Law and Practice (Oxford University Press).

His work is informed by extensive practical experience in business, the charitable and voluntary sectors, politics, and his keen interest in the arts and heritage.
