Sheena Jacob is a highly-ranked leading intellectual property and technology lawyer with extensive experience in the Privacy field, having previously headed the Asia Pacific data protection practice at an international law firm. Qualified to practice law across 3 continents, viz. Singapore, New York and England & Wales, Sheena is uniquely placed to assist international companies doing business in Asia. Riding the wave of new privacy laws across Asia, Sheena has advised a host of international and local companies on privacy and data protection issues in Singapore and the Asian region. She has experience in conducting privacy compliance programs for companies and working with them to develop and implement informational privacy and security policies across the organization. 

 

She has managed multiple data breach incidents for clients including working with computer forensics teams, participating in crisis management, reviewing the customer communications and engaging with the regulator. Her experience in data breach advice and management cuts across the technology, healthcare and retail sectors.

 

She also advises on privacy in relation to websites and e-commence, BYOD and other employment aspects, data centres, cloud computing and the roll-out of new technologies. She works closely with clients to analyze the challenges and opportunities provided by the Internet of Things for their business. She conducts training for organizations in the Asian region.

 

Sheena's privacy practice covers a broad range of industries, from high-tech to life sciences, property, education and finance. She has acted for government organizations and Forbes 500 companies.

 

Sheena has presented on privacy and data protection issues on many occasions in Singapore including for the Singapore National Employers Federation, the Direct Marketing Association of Singapore and at international conferences including iTechlaw Asia Pacific 2014 and 2016, and the IAPP Asia Pacific Privacy Forum 2017.
