Associate General Counsel

Leah Perry is a comparative law attorney with over 1e years of experience working in the public and private sectors on privacy, information security, and financial services legal matters. She was previously, Associate General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer for S&P Global Inc. (formerly McGraw Hill Financial), where she developed an award winning proactive multi-faceted privacy governance program that impacts customers and employees across the globe.  In doing so, Ms. Perry led a team of nearly 50 privacy officials and 12 legal privacy coordinators.  She was also featured in Modern Counsel Magazine detailing how her work has played a pivotal role in S&P Global keeping up with a changing regulatory, privacy and data protection environment to ensure its success.

 

Prior to joining S&P Global, Ms. Perry served in the U.S. Congress as Chief Oversight Counsel, Senior Counsel, and Chief Investigative Counsel for two committees. During that time, she led investigations involving the financial crisis of 2008, implementation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), and the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, among others. She has extensive experience in examining, organizing and restructuring privacy programs, as well as investigating FTC, FCC, PCI-DSS, HITECH ACT/HIPAA and FCPA compliance matters in the public and private sectors.

 

Ms. Perry holds a LL.M. in (advanced) public international law from Leiden University Faculty of Law located in The Hague, Netherlands, a J.D. from University of Iowa College of Law (graduated early), and a B.A. from Vassar College.
