Sue Gong is a seasoned privacy, security, and compliance counsel, with substantial multidisciplinary and international experience working with diverse cross-functional teams at large multinationals and innovative startups in Silicon Valley.



A dual-qualified California attorney and solicitor (England & Wales), Sue has a deep passion for privacy, security, and emerging technologies, and their global impact on business, government, and society. A firm believer in continuous learning and the big picture, she holds advanced degrees and certificates in law, business, taxation, and security, as well as professional certifications in privacy, audit, risk management, corporate compliance, fraud, and program management.



Her privacy-focused role over the last four years covered a broad range of companies that offer leading-edge products in cloud solutions, storage, semiconductor, cybersecurity, physical and airspace security, adtech, fintech, insurtech, data analytics, hospitality, medical equipment, and consumer electronics.



Sue’s advisory services and hands-on project assistance to her clients encompass global privacy laws and programs, privacy risk assessments, privacy operationalization, cross-border data sharing, data processing agreements, third-party risk assessments, data mapping, privacy and security policies and procedures, training, notices and consents, data subject rights requests, data breach, and privacy by design.



Sue served as the IAPP-KnowledgeNet San Francisco Bay Area chapter co-chair from 2017 to 2019. She assists the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and the iTech Law Association with regional and global conference planning. Sue also spoke at the California Lawyers Association, SCCE, Ethisphere and ISACA events on privacy, ethics, and compliance.
