About the IAPP

Renee Gewercman is an attorney at the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, an independent executive branch agency located in Washington, DC. There, Ms. Gewercman oversees the federal government’s efforts to prevent terrorism, in order to ensure that these efforts are balanced with the need to protect privacy and civil liberties.​ Prior to joining the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, Ms. Gewercman was an oversight officer at the Department of Homeland Security. She joined the Department as a Presidential Management Fellow. Ms. Gewercman earned her undergraduate degree at Cornell University and obtained her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
