About the IAPP

Monika Kuschewsky is the group data protection officer of Messe Berlin, one of the world’s most successful trade fair companies with over 100 regional, national and international events every year. Monika is a certified data protection officer (GDDCert.) and IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and the general editor of the handbook "Data Protection and Privacy“. As a German attorney and partner in international law firms in Brussels (Belgium) and Berlin, she has advised large and medium-sized German companies and international groups of companies in the area of data protection for almost 20 years. The main focus of her advice was employee privacy, customer privacy, direct marketing, outsourcing, international data transfers and new technologies such as IoT, BYOD, mobile apps, cloud computing as well as analysis and tracking tools. She has developed numerous data protection compliance programs, including for compliance with the GDPR, and supervised their implementation. She has conducted trainings on various data protection topics and regularly speaks at conferences and events.

Als Rechtsanwältin und Partnerin in internationalen Kanzleien in Brüssel, Belgien, und Berlin hat sie fast 20 Jahre lang große und mittlere deutsche sowie multinationale Unternehmen und Konzerne in Sachen Datenschutz beraten. Schwerpunkte ihrer Beratungstätigkeit waren Beschäftigtendatenschutz, Kundendatenschutz, Direktwerbung, Outsourcing, internationale Datenübermittlungen und neue Technologien wie IoT, BYOD, mobile Apps, Cloud Computing sowie Analyse- und Tracking-Tools. Sie hat zahlreiche Datenschutz-Compliance Programme u.a. zur Umsetzung der DS-GVO entwickelt und deren Einführung federführend begleitet. Sie hat Schulungen zu diversen datenschutzrechtlichen Themen durchgeführt und spricht regelmäßig auf Konferenzen und Veranstaltungen.
