Associate Director, Division of Privacy and Identity Protection

Maneesha Mithal is the associate director of the Federal Trade Commission's Division of Privacy and Identity Protection. While at the commission, she has held numerous positions, including chief of staff of the Bureau of Consumer Protection and assistant director of the International Division of Consumer Protection. She supervises work in the areas of commercial privacy, data security and credit reporting. Prior to joining the Federal Trade Commission in 1999, Mithal was an attorney at the Washington law firm of Covington & Burling.



Mithal earned her law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.
