Valita M. Fredland is Chief Privacy Counsel / Officer for Indiana University Health, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN. Fredland has a bachelor of art degree in economics from Mount Holyoke College, a law degree from Cornell University and a master of art degree in clinical bio-medical ethics from the University of Virginia. She is admitted to practice law in both New York and Indiana. Fredland been a Certified Information Privacy Professional since 2005. Her career in healthcare services includes the Office of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, senior policy analyst at the Indiana State Department of Health, and director of legal services for Eskenazi Health (formerly Wishard Health Services), Indianapolis, IN. Fredland has functioned in a multidisciplinary role since joining Indiana University Health in 1998, where she Chairs the Privacy & Security Council and serves on the Ethics Committee and Ethics Consultation Sub-Committee.
