Michael is the Acting Director for Global Data Policy and lead advisor at the Department of Commerce for APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) System and data privacy initiatives.  Michael leads work in the G7 and G20 on ICT, e-commerce and digital trade policies, including cybersecurity, privacy, and emerging technologies.  Michael leads policy engagement in the Asia-Pacific (including China, Russia, Korea, and Japan), Oceania, and South Asia, including India.  Michael also serves as the Vice Chair for the APEC Data Privacy Subgroup, overseeing privacy developments in the APEC region.  Michael is CIPP/E and CIPP/US certified, and a former Presidential Management Fellow.
