Associate General Counsel (Privacy)

Tim Nagle is the Chief Privacy Counsel for Prudential Financial with responsibility for advising the Global Chief Privacy Officer, colleagues in the Law Department and business, technology and risk executives on issues related to personal and proprietary data collection, management, use, security and analytics.

 

He joined Prudential from a global law firm where his practice focused on data privacy, security and management.  Prior to that, Tim supported the Chief Information Security Officer and other privacy, security and technology executives at another global financial services institution.   He has been a technology program manager at a large systems integration company and completed a 21 year career in the U.S. Navy as an assistant general counsel at the National Security Agency where he supported the deputy director for information systems security.

 

During his many years of working in the data privacy, security and analytics field, Tim has provided legal advice on compliance with privacy and security laws and regulations in the United States and other countries, online presence and interactions including website privacy policies and terms of use, the conduct of network security assessments, managing programs for responding to security events or data breaches, vendor management, employee training and awareness, network monitoring, threat information sharing, coordination with law enforcement agencies, and use of encryption.

 

Tim has written and spoken extensively on privacy, security and critical infrastructure issues in the financial services industry and other sectors.  He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and has law degrees from Suffolk University and the University of Virginia as well as a certificate in information systems from Johns Hopkins University.  Tim is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
