Jan Camenisch is a leading scientist in the area of cryptography and privacy. He has published more than 100 scientific papers and book chapters. Jan's research agenda is very unique: since the very early stages of his career, Jan conducted cutting-edge research which pioneered an active line of work on privacy-enhancing technologies and cryptographic tools for the construction of efficient protocols. He has received a number of awards for his work including the 2010 ACM SIGSAC outstanding innovation award and the 2013 IEEE computer society technical achievement award. Jan's team is probably the world leading research group in privacy-enhancing technologies. Jan is also fostering the real-world adoption of such technologies by leading and initiating international research projects.

 

He is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and has been the technical leader of EU-funded project PRIME and PrimeLife and is now involved in AU2EU, FutureID, and Witdom. Jan currently also holds an Advanced ERC grant for “Personal Cryptography.”
