About the IAPP

Patrick is currently a Manager at the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). The AER is Alberta’s single regulator of energy development — from application and exploration, to construction and development, to abandonment, reclamation, and remediation. Prior to joining the AER, Patrick worked with the Government of Alberta, Ministry of Environment performing a variety of roles, including Acting Director, Information Management, Senior Records Officer and Information Security Officer.  

Patrick has a wide range of experience in the fields of information privacy, technology, security, records and information management in the public sector. His experience includes information access and privacy administration, compliance assessments, privacy impact assessments and security threat detection and risk analysis.  

Patrick is certified in a number of IT and regulatory compliance domains: ITIL, COBIT, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology/ Computer Science (m) and certificate in Information Access and Protection of Privacy from the University of Alberta.
