About the IAPP

Joseph Wender serves as Senior Policy Advisor to Senator Ed Markey (D-MA). Sen. Markey is the founder of the Congressional Bipartisan Privacy Caucus and former Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. Sen. Markey currently serves on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, which has jurisdiction over privacy and technology issues. Wender handles telecom and privacy issues for Sen. Markey.

Previously, Wender served as then-Rep. Markey's Legislative Director. Before working for Markey, Wender was a Counsel for Oversight and Investigations to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Wender graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School and earned his B.A. at Wesleyan University.
