Tanguy heads Linklaters' Global Data Protection and Privacy practice as well as the Technology Media & Telecommunications/Intellectual Property practice in Brussels. He chairs Linklaters' Information System Board which decides on the IT strategy of the firm.
 
With 30 years’ experience as a lawyer, Tanguy has developed a comprehensive practice in the field of IT law with a strong focus on data protection and information governance projects as well as IT procurement and outsourcing. As a leading individual in IT and Data Protection, he has been acknowledged as a "very experienced and well-known lawyer”. His team has equally been praised for having “a broad network and accurate and up-to-date knowledge” (Chambers Europe: Belgium, Data Protection, 2017).
 
Tanguy has a thorough expertise in advising multinationals on local and international large scale transactions and regulatory projects for a large spectrum of corporates in a variety of industries, with a particular focus on the IT, healthcare and financial sectors. Recently, he has been busy advising an increasing number of clients on their GDPR implementation projects as well as on intercontinental data transfer solutions.
 
Tanguy is Data Protection Issue Lead of the Digital Economy Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU, member of the European Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as well as member of the Editorial Boards of Digital Health Legal (Cecile Park Media) and the Computer and Telecommunications Law Review (Thomson Reuters). He lectures on data protection and sourcing at the University of Brussels (Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management) where he recently joined their newly created GDPR Advisory Committee. Recently, Tanguy was elected to join the multi-stakeholder expert group of the European Commission to support the application of the GDPR.
 
Tanguy graduated from the University of Brussels (1987). A fellow of the Belgian American Educational Foundation (1990), he also holds a LL.M. degree from the University of Chicago Law School (1991).
