Laurel Yancey, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM
Laurel G. Yancey is Partner of the Law Office of Laurel G. Yancey, P.C., a firm
focused on telecommunications, media, technology, data privacy and data
protection. She serves as an appointed neutral on the American Arbitration
Association National Roster of Neutrals for Commercial Arbitration with expertise
coded for Data Security, Cybersecurity, Data Breach and Privacy.
Ms. Yancey counsels clients on domestic and international communications legal
and regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions, anti-trust, and electronic
communications services, including broadband, OTT and VOIP. She provides
expert advisory services to investors seeking to align business strategies with
regulatory requirements and judicial decisions.
She was selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce to be a Peer Reviewer
of the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program. She served in an advisory
role and as a subject matter expert to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation; the
Working Group on Finance, Committee II: Investment Consideration,
International Telecommunications Union Regional Development Conference,
Acapulco, Mexico; and in foreign bi-lateral telecom trade negotiations in
consultation with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
She has written reports advising on U.S. investment in global telecom sectors.
Her case decisions were adopted by the Federal Communications Commission
and published in the FCC Record. She has filed comments in reply to FCC
proceedings.
Ms. Yancey is a member of the IAPP, IAPP Privacy Bar, and IAPP Training
Advisory Board. She holds IAPP CIPP/US, and Emory University (ECE) Big Data
Analytics certifications. She earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School.
