Elizabeth Shughrue
Betty Shughrue currently leads the day to day operations of the CareFirst Privacy Office which supports approximately 6,000 associates and workforce members. She is a graduate of Notre Dame of Maryland with a BA in Family and Community Counseling, and a Master’s degree in Aging; Healthcare Administration. She has over 30 years of healthcare experience, 15+ years of compliance experience, with 13 of those years specifically focused on privacy.
Betty’s role is responsible for drafting privacy policies and privacy training, implementing enterprise wide business processes related to privacy, and is involved in strategic decisions regarding the organization’s position on privacy. She also provides comments on pending legislation, the impact to the company, and initiatives in the organization with a privacy impact.
