Elena Elkina, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT
Elena Elkina is Senior Manager, Global Privacy Office at McKesson’s Corporate Office in San Francisco, CA. She is focused on building out McKesson’s enterprise-level global privacy program within a global matrixed organization, including developing and implementing privacy policies, privacy maturity model, and long term roadmap; designing and implementing de-identification and data handling strategies and processes; building privacy toolkits, privacy training and awareness programs; partnering with other risk assessment organizations and business units across the globe to conduct risk assessments and evaluate web and mobile products and services. Elena is an active member of the McKesson Enterprise Risk Council where she works closely with the risk management leadership to enhance the value of information assets and develop privacy programs that protect information.
Elena’s career includes more than 17 years of experience in the legal and compliance environment. She worked with financial institutions, software and Internet companies, major law firms, and the government sector on both, international and domestic levels. Her practice concentrates on Privacy and Technology and a wide range of business transactions, with an emphasis on Privacy Compliance, Internet and E-Commerce, Contracts, and advising start-up and growth stage companies on developing successful business strategies. In addition, Elena is a Co-founder of the Women in Security and Privacy (WISP) group that focuses on advancing women in security and privacy fields. Also, she is a board member for Leading Women in Technology, a non-profit organization dedicated to unlocking the potential of female professionals who advise technology businesses.
Prior to her career in the healthcare industry, Elena worked as Vice President of Compliance at Boston Private Bank and Trust Company and Assistant Vice President, Legal & Compliance at Far East National Bank in Los Angeles, CA. Preceding her tenure in the financial industry, Elena worked at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, LLP, Rocket Software/IBM, and Harvard Law School in Boston, MA. Prior to her experience in the United States, Elena served as an Assistant to the Mayor of Moscow in Russia and as an In-House Counsel for Ecology Holding. She also held a management position with a major international oil company LUKoil and served as a Clerk in a District Court.
Elena was born and raised in Russia where she received her first law degree. She also has an LL.M. degree from Berkeley Law School. In addition, she studied at Harvard, Stanford, and Rice Universities. Elena is passionate about sports, specifically boxing, and enjoys car racing and motorcycles.
