Kristen Anderson is a staff attorney at the Federal Trade Commission, in the Bureau of Consumer Protection’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection.  Her practice focuses on consumer privacy and data security.  She has investigated and pursued cases against advertising companies, financial services companies, and others for alleged violations of the FTC Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.  She has also served as a counsel to former Bureau Director Jessica Rich, and as an attorney advisor to former Chairwoman Edith Ramirez. Ms. Anderson co-planned and moderated the FTC’s November 2013 workshop on the Internet of Things, its May 2014 seminar on Consumer Generated and Controlled Health Data and Mobile-Device Tracking, and its January 2016 PrivacyCon conference on consumer privacy and data security.  She joined the FTC in 2011 after earning her J.D. at the Georgetown University Law Center and her M.P.P. at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute (now the McCourt School of Public Policy).
