About the IAPP

Edward (Ted) Murphree is an Assistant City Attorney for the City of San Antonio. In this capacity, Murphree has written policies, procedures, rules, regulations, resolutions and laws for nearly 9 years. Murphree has worked with the Information Technology and Risk Management departments as an Information Technology attorney, advising in cyber privacy risks, privacy policy, strategy and procedures as well as information security management as it pertains to municipal infrastructure as part of his duties. In addition to a JD from the St. Mary's University School of Law, he also holds a PhD in Engineering Management with special emphasis in information security from the George Washington University's Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering. His dissertation topic emphasized the subjective perception of risk as it pertained to the delicate balance between privacy and security in a workplace setting. He has been a member of IAPP since 2007 and holds CIPP/US and CIPP/G certifications.
