About the IAPP

Robert Yonaitis is the Founder and Chief Technologist of BeyData, a company providing technology solutions and services “beyond metadata” to harness the power of information and to provide effective data control. Yonaitis is a hands on and accomplished business savvy information technology executive with more than 20 years of experience that spans large companies, small start-ups and Big 10 consulting firms.  Previously, Yonaitis founded Hiawatha Island Software Company, (HiSoftware, acquired by Cryptzone 2014) and in 2012, Yonaitis joined AvePoint Inc., where he served for two years as Senior Vice President/Chief Research Scientist. While at AvePoint he conceived, architected, designed, and led the development and market introduction of AvePoint’s first compliance platform from inception to industry analyst recognition. 

Yonaitis has served as a Subject Matter Expert on Accessibility and General Compliance to standard development. Work included but is not limited to; Privacy, Security & Security Indicators, OPSEC, Openness in Government. He has also participated since 2010 as a Delegate to the United Nations Internet Governance Forum, a chartered working group of the United Nations focused on key elements of Internet governance in order to foster the sustainability, robustness, security, stability and development of the Internet. Yonaitis holds a CIPT and a CIPM from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
