Jodi Townsend is currently employed as the Leader for Access and Privacy at the City of Calgary where she is responsible for a team of Privacy Analyst’s providing a balance between a transparent Municipal Government and the protection of individual’s rights to privacy. Prior to this role Jodi worked for the Alberta Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner as a Senior Investigation and Privacy Manager, specializing in all 3 of Alberta’s privacy laws. She has also worked as Legal Counsel and Manager of Professional Standards for the Canadian Pacific Police Service.



Jodi holds a Bachelor of Law degree with Honours and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, where she is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for both Canada and the United States.



Jodi originates from the United Kingdom and lived in New Zealand prior to settling in Canada in 2011. This experience has provided Jodi with a firm understanding of privacy laws internationally.
