About the IAPP

Stefan Weiss is the Regional Data Protection Officer (Europe) of the global biotech company CSL Behring since 2021 and is based in Frankfurt/Germany. Previous to his role, he was the Global Data Protection Officer of Swiss Re from 2011-2021 and prior to that, he has worked in the advisory field on risk management, security and privacy for the audit and consulting firms KPMG, Deloitte, @stake and Defcom Security. Mr. Weiss has received his PhD from the Goethe University, Frankfurt/Germany in 2009 and has written his dissertation on enhancing privacy in social network applications. Furthermore, he received his business degrees (BBA & MBA) from The George Washington University, Washington D.C./USA. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US, CIPP/EU and CIPT) and IAPP Member since 2007 and completed his ISACA Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) certification in 2021. Mr. Weiss has been involved in a number of activities to enhance data protection such as having been the Project Editor of the first international privacy standard ISO/IEC 29100 Privacy Framework, contributing to privacy research projects and more recently being a lecturer at the DPO Program of the University of St. Gallen/Switzerland.
