About the IAPP

Mariam Abdel-Malek is a director within Privacy Legal at Pinterest. At Pinterest, she advises the business and product teams on all privacy and security-related matters, including CCPA, ePrivacy, and GDPR. Mariam focuses on operationalizing state law compliance, and counselling on personalization and ad targeting, children’s privacy, de-identification, tracking, employee privacy, and data subject rights.  

Prior to Pinterest, Mariam was an associate in the San Francisco office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where her practice focused on a myriad of U.S. and international privacy and data security issues, including conducting privacy due diligence during acquisitions, lawful data processing, data breach response, and government investigations of companies’ privacy and security practices.

Before this, Mariam was privacy counselling at Autodesk in San Francisco. After law school, Mariam completed a post-bar fellowship at the California Department of Justice’s Privacy Enforcement and Protection Unit, where she worked on privacy inquiries and investigations.
