Laura Riposo VanDruff chairs Kelley Drye & Warren’s Advertising and Marketing practice group. She focuses her practice on consumer privacy and data security, including compliance with federal and state laws throughout the U.S. and investigations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state attorneys general.



Laura was assistant director at the FTC, Bureau of Consumer Protection, where she served for nearly a decade. She handled matters related to violations of U.S. laws enforced by the Commission regarding the privacy and security of consumer information. Her enforcement and policy portfolio at the FTC included the security of consumer information, IoT privacy and security, and health privacy.



Laura also practiced at AT&T, where she served as an assistant vice president – senior legal counsel advising business clients on consumer protection risks, developing and executing strategies in response to regulatory inquiries, and participating in policy initiatives within the company and across industry.



Laura is an experienced litigator, beginning her legal career representing Fortune 100 clients in high-stakes litigation and then litigating cases for the FTC, including serving as the managing attorney in FTC v. D-Link Systems, Inc., the Commission’s first federal court litigation regarding software security.
