Carolin Loy is originally a lawyer and worked in civil law and as an assessor in insolvency law. Since April 2020, Ms. Loy has been a member of the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht), where she is responsible for the area of "Internet", especially questions of principle on data protection in telemedia.

She is also in charge of the fundamental issues of commissioned processing and joint responsibility.
