Malcolm has been involved in the security of data and information for 25 years. He began his career at GCHQ, the UK’s electronic intelligence agency, where he quickly learned both the importance of data security and the myriad of ways in which an attacker can defeat even the strongest of defences. During his government career he served in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan, where he was accountable for all UK intelligence operations during the crucial periods of the Presidential elections and UK troop drawdown. Malcolm left the government in 2015, since then he has played a strategic role in the growth of ITC and its transition from private to PE ownership. He advises ITC clients at board level and is a recognised expert in strategic cyber security, security leadership, and related national security issues. He is a regular commentator in the mainstream broadcast and printed media, including the BBC and Sky News. He also regularly presents at events in the cyber industry but also across many other economic sectors.
