YORK, Maine — January 9, 2006 -- After an enthusiastic response from IAPP members to a call for candidates to serve on a new Advisory Board, the IAPP today announced the members of its inaugural Advisory Board for The Privacy Advisor, one of the main benefits of IAPP membership.

Kirk J. Nahra, CIPP, Editor of The Privacy Advisor and a partner with Wiley Rein & Fielding in Washington, D.C., will serve as chairman of the 10-member board.

"We are eager to hear from our new board members what privacy and security issues are crossing their desks everyday," Nahra said. "We are seeking the valuable expertise of these privacy pros who will bring diverse perspectives from backgrounds in law, online marketing, financial services, government and other various industries. We've been able to cover the privacy waterfront with this board."

"The Privacy Advisor is a powerful forum for informing and educating privacy professionals," said Elise Berkower, CIPP, and Senior Privacy Compliance Officer, for DoubleClick Inc., a leading provider of digital advertising technology and services, headquartered in New York. "It is an honor to work with such knowledgeable privacy experts on this valuable resource. Our first Advisory Board meeting confirmed the depth of experience and analysis that the Board members have devoted to privacy issues."

In October, the IAPP announced the creation of the board and asked candidates to submit their credentials. IAPP membership was a prerequisite for consideration. More than 60 candidates sought consideration for this valuable contribution to the privacy community.
