The Bank of Louisiana has filed a class-action lawsuit against Marriott International following the company's recent data breach, Bloomberg Law reports. The filing is the first from a financial institution for this breach but joins at least 40 other class-action suits that have been filed on behalf of the data breach victims. In the filing, the bank alleged that the data breach “was the inevitable result of Marriott’s inadequate data security measures” and added, “Marriott failed to ensure that it maintained adequate data security measures that could have detected and prevented the breach.” A judge will determine whether to consolidate the cases at a Jan. 31 hearing.
